Elta has demonstrated its commitment to an environmentally sustainable approach to building with the announcement that the company is once again to be one of the major sponsors of the CIBSE (Chartered Institute of Building Service Engineers) Low Carbon Performance Awards.

The 2010 awards see Elta in its third year of sponsorship, this time as sponsor of the ‘Client of the Year ” Energy Performance’, one of the 13 categories which will be presented on 3 February in a ceremony at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel. The annual awards scheme rewards those who have delivered demonstrable carbon savings in the design and management of buildings. The role of the client in encouraging, supporting and investing in carbon reduction is seen as a critical part of the process, with judges looking for evidence of such in both the construction of the building and also in the efforts made to raise carbon awareness amongst the building occupants.

David Osgerby, Managing Director of Elta, comments “We are delighted to be involved again as a sponsor of the awards which we see as an excellent way of rewarding those companies that really are attempting to maximise the energy efficiency of buildings. This is a fundamental part of our own business as we seek increasingly innovative ways in which we can help to reduce the carbon-footprint of buildings through more efficient components, products and control systems. We launched our QuietflowDCV (Demand Control Ventilation) system earlier in the year, combining energy-efficient fan and impeller units with the ability to use our DCV control methodology, and continue to develop such initiatives. We have chosen to sponsor a new category for us in recognition of the vital role that the client plays ” we and other suppliers to the building and construction industry can develop new ways of making buildings increasingly energy efficient but it is ultimately the client that has to commit to implementing them”.

Elta is part of the £85 million Elta Group, a family of businesses with operations in six countries on four continents which, together with a network of international distributors, provides quality fans and related air movement equipment to customers worldwide.
